January 30, 2014- 5:21 P.M.

Current Weather Conditions:

Temperature: 15° F
Feels Like: -1° F
Wind: NW at 16 mph
Barometric Pressure: 1006.2 mb
Humidity: 62%
Dew Point: 8° F
We recieved a fair amount of snow starting in the early hours of the morning and continuing until the afternoon today. The high pressure system that was keeping us windy and well below zero for a while continued moving east and was replaced by a low pressure system that brought with it all the clouds and snow.
The slightly warmer temperatures we had today and yesterday thanks to that low pressure probably won't last, as the cold front that is spreading east accross Wisconsin will bring colder weather behind it. It also looks like another high pressure system could be following down from Canada (hard to see, but it's behind the legend on top of the image), which would bring sub-zero temperatures once again if it heads our way.

January 29, 2014- 7:44 P.M.

Current Weather Conditions:

Temperature: 20° F
Feels Like: 10° F
Wind: S at 9 mph
Barometric Pressure: 1007.3 mb
Humidity: 55%
Dew Point: 6° F
I have to admit, it felt pretty nice to not have to type a negative symbol in front of the temperature today. During the day it was partly cloudy, but the sun was still shining. It felt almost like spring. That's pretty sad, now that I think about it.

Anyway, the high pressure system has moved out, and a low pressure system is coming in, bringing more clouds and a chance of snow tonight. With the low pressure, the "warm" temperatures might stick around for a little while too, though it may not be that exciting with extra snow.

January 28, 2014- 2:00 P.M.

Current Weather Conditions:

Temperature: -5° F
Feels Like: -24° F
Wind: W at 13 mph
Barometric Pressure: 1026 mb
Humidity: 58%
Dew Point: -16° F

The cold winds from the polar jet stream stuck around again today, but not as harsh as the last couple of days. The area of high pressure that kept the skies clear lately is starting to move on as well. The high pressure system is moving into the east and there is a low pressure system coming from the west to take it's place. With this, we can expect the next day or two to be slightly warmer (in the 20s! Heat wave!), have more cloud cover, and possibly precipitation.

January 27, 2014- 5:45 P.M.

OK, OK, I'll actually give you the numbers. But seriously, stay inside.

Temperature: -8° F
Feels Like: -27° F
Wind: W at 12 mph

Today was another bitter cold, windy day. When I had checked earlier in the day, the temperature with windchill was even worse at -38° F, and will dip back down to around there later tonight once the sun goes down.

US: Severe Weather Alerts

As you can see, it's not just Eau Claire that has to deal with this. The Wind Chill Alert is in affect for almost all of the Midwest and Eastern states. This wind and cold will probably continue into most of tomorrow, so be prepared for a chilly morning commute.

Screw it, stay inside.

January 26, 2014- 6:00 P.M.

Current Weather Conditions:

Temperature: 14° F
Feels Like: -4° F
Wind: WNW at 20 mph (gusting to 29 mph)
Humidity: 52%

I went outside this morning to shovel the snow we got last night, and my street looked like the Arctic Tundra. There was no one outside, and the wind was whipping around the fresh, light snow in all directions. It was sunny out, but there were darker looking skies in what seemed like every other direction.

We have a Winter Weather Advisory until midnight tonight, and then a Wind Chill Advisory from midnight until noon on Tuesday. Tomorrow and Tuesday are going to be VERY cold, with a windchill of around -40° F. Frostbite can get you in just a few minutes at that temperature, so bundle up!

Saturday, January 24, 2014- 11:45 A.M.

Current Weather Conditions:

Temperature: 3° F
Feels Like: -16° F
Wind: From WNW at 17 mph
Humidity: 47%

The clear, sunny skies this morning are awfully deceiving. Looking outside, you might think that the cold spell we've been going through had finally lifted. Unfortunately, however, it's just as cold and windy as ever. As you can tell from the following map, the winds are coming from the northwest.
